1. Scope of Services
ABLE FORWARDERS, INC. operates as a multimodal freight forwarder and logistics coordinator. We're responsible for the arrangement of transportation from origin to destination as specified in the Bill of Lading. Does this cover every incidental cost? Not necessarily. All quotes are subject to final weight, volume, and prevailing carrier fuel surcharges at the time of transit.
2. Cargo Liability and Insurance
While we handle every pallet with extreme care, standard carrier liability is often limited based on the weight of the goods. We strongly recommend that shippers secure comprehensive cargo insurance. Our team can facilitate this upon request. It's about mitigating risk before the wheels start turning.
Note: All claims for damage or shortage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery. Documentation is key to a swift resolution.
3. Warehousing and Storage
Goods stored at our Traverse City facility or partner warehouses for freight transportation are held at the owner's risk regarding natural disasters, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Inventory management is digital, but physical safety is a shared responsibility. We'll provide you with real-time status updates on all held transit stock.
4. Payment and Documentation
Invoices are payable within 30 days of the invoice date unless your contract specifies a different term. Timely documentation prevents border delays. Please ensure all Customs documents and Commercial Invoices are submitted 48 hours prior to the scheduled transit window. Freight doesn't wait for paperwork.
